An atmospheric landscape painting from the Seine river. Dufour uses a soft brushwork and creates a tone that is reminiscent of Corot.

Camille Dufour is one of the well-known Parisian painters of the late 19th century. He had been exhibiting in the Salon des artistes français since 1877 after studying with Cogniet and Charles Jacque.

Dufour is the painter of the Seine. Of course there are also atmospheric views from Normandy and southern Provence. Again and again, however, he grapples with the banks of the Seine lined with trees, bushes and houses, which he is able to portray with particular intimacy.
These works established his reputation and he sold his paintings to many countries around the world.
